Henry Rocha describes how his house fell over on him in the 1925 earthquake, his rescue, his life in Santa Barbara through the Depression and being a beach rat, a.k.a. beach bum, how much of the lower east side was swampland and dumps, how he met and courted his wife, a fourth generation Santa Barbarena, his work at the huge Johnston lemon factory--and when the 101 used to go through city streets. His wife of 60 years and young niece also describe what life was and is like in Santa Barbara and why they like it to this day.
